Pete and Kim Theodorsen

It was destined to happen ~ If you have seen 90210 where everyday someone at school would spin the latest tunes, well, believe it or not, that describes Pete's school days in San Pedro, California.  Kim's work began as a "roller" DJ working for Silver Wings Ballroom in 1986 and graduated to on-air work with KSAM radio here in Huntsville, on and off for over 10 years, as well as voice over work for Huntsville's Educational Video Network and club jock work for Huntsville's Fill-er-Up club.  To this day, Kim still has spots that run on KSAM.

Hanging out on her "off DJ" night at the Fill-er-Up Club which in 1994 used to be housed in the current Don Rafa's Restaurant building, Pete and Kim met, and well, things have never been the same.  At that time, Kim was sharing part-time mobile work with her business partner, Randy Bass, averaging 4-5 jobs in a good month working Premiere Productions.  In March of 1995, Pete and Kim bought out Randy and Variety Sounds was born.

Pete's original name suggestion, Variety Sound Box didn't make the cut, so dropping the "box", Pete and Kim felt that Variety Sounds said everything that they wanted their company to be.  Currently, Variety Sounds has 4 complete DJ/KJ sets of equipment with a CD collection of over 6000 discs and over 12,000 Karaoke songs, allowing Variety Sounds the capability of producing an average of 20-25 jobs per month.

Starting as just a DJ business, Pete and Kim contracted their personalities to another Karaoke business and had a ball being stars, at least in their own minds!  Pete's idea to incorporate Karaoke services to Variety Sounds late in 1995 would soon prove to be the pivotal point in what makes Variety Sounds the success you see today.  And YES, Pete is the original "Karaoke Junkie".  Kim never sang before they met, which proves that anyone can sing, to an extent!

Now employing 4 others than Pete and Kim, Variety Sounds continues to grow by adding new dimensions to their services.  Sound for large events as when  Governor George Bush visited Huntsville, production of the Miss Lufkin, Miss Montgomery County/Conroe and Miss Walker County preliminaries to Miss Texas, the Miss Texas Runners Up pageant in Dallas, corporate functions, college and school districts, private work and now complete wedding coordination through Simply Elegant, Variety Sounds has brought diverse services unlike any other to Huntsville and the Greater East Texas area.
